Thee Toledo Reign - Division 5 Champs!

Going into the Memorial Day bye weekend the Reign sat at 1-4 with a four-game losing streak and dim hopes of the playoffs.  Two weeks after the bye weekend the Reign can call themselves Division 5 champions after defeating the Derby City Dynamite 32-22.

The Reign (3-4) finished an improbable run to the Division 5 title with a wire-to-wire victory over the Dynamite (3-4).  Leading 13-8 at halftime the Reign never relinquished the lead and pulled away at the end, where a Dynamite touchdown with no time on the clock locked in the 10-point victory for the Reign.  The Reign ran their division record to 3-1 with back-to-back division victories and due to the head-to-head point differential tiebreaker edged the Dynamite for Division 5’s only ticket to the WFA playoffs.

Returning to Camden, Michigan to show their home town their abilities, Jacki and Kasey Clark powered the Reign offensive attack.  Kasey Clark was very efficient, going 9 for 14 passing for 135 yards and 3 touchdowns.  Kasey added 23 yards and another touchdown on the ground.  Jacki Clark was the primary target of her niece, carrying the ball 13 times for 56 yards and a touchdown and catching 3 passes for 84 yards and another touchdown.

A relative newcomer to the Reign, Aneta Pekalska snared her first two interceptions of the season, one of which was returned to the half yard line setting up an easy Reign score.  Pekalska also chipped in 3 ½ tackles and returned 3 kickoffs with an average of 13.7 yards per return.  Jaime Spangler came back into form with 9 solid tackles against the Dynamite running attack that was unable to find the end zone all game.

The Reign will return to Toledo this weekend to celebrate their first ever division championship and trip to the playoffs in a matchup with the visiting Indy Crash (4-3).  The Dynamite will welcome the Cincinnati Sizzle (0-7) in their regular season finale.
