Thee Toledo Reign open their first ever playoff run this weekend as they head to Indianapolis to take on the Indy Crash in a rematch of the final game of the 2012 WFA regular season.
The Reign qualified for the playoffs for the first time in their 10 year history this season by posting a 3-1 division record in the WFA Division 5 and winning the head-to-head point differential tiebreaker over the Derby City Dynamite. The Reign bring a potent passing attack to the field led by Kasey Clark, the fourth rated quarterback in the WFA regular season (127), throwing for 618 yards and 7 touchdowns with only 1 interception. Amanda Coressel finished the regular season tied for third in the league with 33 receptions, good for 452 yards and 3 touchdowns. Marabeth Lewis led the Reign defense with 80 tackles, good for sixth in the league while also chipping in 6 tackles for loss. The Reign will need to have all their weapons at the ready as they head into their rematch with the Indy Crash.
The Crash qualified for the playoffs with a 5-3 overall record / 1-3 division record in the WFA Division 6, good for the Wild Card spot after winning the head-to-head point differential tiebreaker over the West Michigan Mayhem. Stopping the Crash running attack is the key to victory for the Reign and they will have another shot at doing so this weekend.
The Crash are 2-0 against the Reign all-time including a 28-7 victory last week to close the WFA regular season. The Reign will be looking for retribution along with their first ever playoff victory.
