Thee Toledo Reign come off the Memorial Day bye week looking to turn around a disappointing first half. They will end their four-game road trip with a rematch against the Cincinnati Sizzle.
The Reign (1-4) have stumbled during the long road trip, losing the last four contests including a heartbreaking 20-18 matchup with the division leading Derby City Dynamite May 19th. Despite recent outcomes the Reign is still a tough matchup for any team. Amanda Coressel leads the league in receptions (31) and is fourth in receiving yards (441), and the defense is powered by Marabeth Lewis and Brittney Rupert, currently 9th and 11th in the WFA in tackles with 50 and 49 respectively. In order to preserve their playoff hopes the Reign have to win on the road against the Cincinnati Sizzle.
The Sizzle (0-5) have not had much success in the 2012 season, losing to the Columbus Comets 64-6 on May 12th. The Sizzle have had two weeks off including the Memorial Day bye to prepare for their rematch with the Reign on their home field, where they defeated the Reign 34-25 to close out the 2011 WFA season.
The Reign rolled over the Sizzle 68-14 to open the 2012 season in Toledo and the Sizzle are sure to be looking for revenge in the rematch. Can the Reign cling to their playoff hopes or will the Sizzle put their first game in the win column? We’ll find out this Saturday at LaSalle High School in Cincinnati!
