Reign Kicks Off 2011 Season This Saturday!

3/30/2011 - With a winter’s worth of practices behind them, Thee Toledo Reign opens the 2011 season looking to return pride and glory to Toledo women’s football.  After a turbulent 2010 season the Reign has retooled their roster and will show that last year is a thing of the past.  The Reign rookies are ready to prove they belong and the veterans will use the lessons of last season to push the Reign back into playoff picture in the WFA.

The first test for the Reign is a familiar foe in the Dayton Diamonds.  Toledo and Dayton have played three times since both teams joined the WFA as inaugural members of the league in 2009 with Toledo holding a 2-1 advantage.  These have been extremely competitive matchups with the last two games being decided by a touchdown or less.  After 60 minutes of back-and-forth defensive football the Reign won the only meeting with the Diamonds last season 7-0 in overtime.  This year sees the Reign and Diamonds reunited in the National Conference North Central 2 division and this early divisional matchup will set the direction for both teams looking to move past an underwhelming 2010 season.

The Reign is ready to pull together and show that they’re for real this year, and the tour starts in Dayton this Saturday!
