2017 Playoff Run Ends In Conference Finals

It was a hard fought, back and forth battle in Fremont last night, with several lead changes and swings in momentum. Unfortunately, we came up short in the Women's Football Alliance Division 3 National Conference Championship to the Orlando Anarchy Women's Football Team 27-20. Congratulations to the Anarchy as they move on to represent the National Conference in the Division 3 Championship in Pittsburgh on July 21st.

Once again, the Reign rushing attack was on full display, grinding out 335 total yards.  The one-two punch of running back #25 Brianna Patman (26 carries, 179 yards) and fullback #43 Octavia Griswold (18 carries, 107 yards, 2 TDs) kept the Reign moving downfield all night long.  Patman and Griswold did not slow down when it came to the defensive side of the ball.  The two-way players gave their all to slow down the Anarchy offense, with Patman recovering two fumbles and making 4 tackles and Griswold making 8 tackles (2 for loss) and blocking an extra point.  The combination of five Reign turnovers and successful big plays by the Anarchy offense led to the end of the Reign's season.

We want to extend our deepest thanks to everyone who supported us through this exciting 2017 season. We could feel your energy in the stands every time we took the field, and we hope we provided an exciting game day experience that will bring you back next season as we continue our journey to bring a women's football championship back to Toledo.

Several Reign players and staff will be in attendance at the 2017 WBowl II National Championship Game weekend in Pittsburgh, and of special interest our three First Team All-Americans (#43 Octavia Griswold, #57 Marabeth Lewis, and #92 Maggie Alberts) who will be participating in the All-American game on Saturday, July 22nd at noon. We will then turn our attention toward our appearances in the community at various events, as well as recruiting for the 2018 season. Please keep an eye on our page for more information in the coming weeks
