After closing out the non-division portion of their schedule Thee Toledo Reign return home this Saturday for their first matching of the 2013 season with the Derby City Dynamite.
The Reign (0-4) finished their tour of the WFA's high caliber Division 2 last week, falling to the Columbus Comets 56-7. The Reign hung tough in the first half, holding the Comets to only 14 points, when injuries and the Comets depth made the difference. The Reign put on an aerial assault on offense with QB Kasey Clark completing 13 passes for 160 yards and a touchdown. RB Brianna Patman was the primary target for Clark, hauling in 8 catches for 111 yards and a touchdown. LB Octavia Griswold turned in another fantastic defensive performance, recording 16.5 tackles and 2 sacks. The Reign will look for their first victory of the season when they take on the Derby City Dynamite.
The Dynamite (0-4) have had difficulty gaining traction in the 2013 season. This week will be the fourth division game of six in a row. The Dynamite have a balanced offense, gaining more yardage on the ground but finding the end zone more often through the air.
This is the first meeting between the Reign and the Dynamite since the Reign claimed the division championship on point differential tiebreaker in 2012. Make sure to get to Gallagher Stadium at Toledo Central Catholic High School to cheer on the Reign as the 2nd half of the 2013 season gets under way! Gates open at 6pm with kickoff at 7pm. Tickets are $6 at the gate.
