Reign Meet Dark Angels in Non-Conference Play

Former North Central 2 rivals collide this Saturday as the Detroit Dark Angels travel to Gallagher Stadium to meet Thee Toledo Reign.

The Reign (1-0) opened the season on April 14th with a dominant 68-14 victory over the Cincinnati Sizzle to take the early lead in Division 5 of the WFA National Conference.  A potent offensive attack rang up nearly 500 yards of offense while posting the most points in the entire WFA for Week 1, backed up by a defense that shut down the Sizzle the final three quarters of the game.  As the game went on the Reign looked tighter and stronger, and they will need this as they face their former division rivals.

The Dark Angels (1-0) defeated the Pittsburgh Force 35-6 in Pittsburgh last weekend to take the lead in Division 4 of the WFA National Conference.  2011 was a successful season for the Dark Angels, who posted a 6-2 record after winning their final four games and won the North Central 2 division in the team’s second season with the WFA.  In order to continue that success, the Dark Angels will need to get past a determined Reign team with playoff aspirations of their own.

The Reign and the Dark Angels met twice in 2011 and each won on their home field.  Both teams have goals of winning their new divisions and will renew their I-75 60 mile rivalry only once this season.  Gallagher Stadium is the place to be this Saturday – kickoff is at 7pm, gates open at 6pm.  Tickets are $6 with kids 5 and under FREE!

Thee Toledo Reign is a member of the Women's Football Alliance, a full-contact American football league comprised of over 60 teams across the United States and Mexico. From Florida to Oregon and from New England to California, the WFA is the largest and fastest growing league in America.
